Setup Instructions
Install to a normal local folder — for example C:\Games\WarboundRO. Do not put the client inside OneDrive (or a OneDrive-synced Desktop/Documents), and avoid folder paths with accented or non-English characters (e.g. accents like á ã é ñ ü). Cloud-sync placeholders and special characters in the path can stop the client from loading its game data and make it crash on startup.

System Requirements
Minimum
  • OS: Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
  • CPU: Any 64-bit x86 dual-core
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • GPU: OpenGL 3.3 capable (Intel HD 4000 or newer)
  • Disk: 6 GB free (client is ~4.15 GB installed)
Recommended
  • OS: Windows 11
  • CPU: Quad-core, 2.5 GHz+
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • GPU: Any dedicated GPU (GTX 750 / RX 460 or newer)
  • Disk: 8 GB free on an SSD (room for patches)
Troubleshooting
  • Client closes or crashes immediately on launch: it's almost always the install location. Make sure WarboundRO is in a plain local folder (e.g. C:\Games\WarboundRO) — not inside OneDrive, a cloud-synced Desktop/Documents, or a path with accented / non-English characters. Re-extract it to a simple path and run again.
  • "Windows protected your PC" warning: click More infoRun anyway. WarboundRO is not signed with a commercial code-signing certificate yet, so SmartScreen flags it as “unknown publisher.” The binary is safe — the source is open and the build pipeline is on GitHub Actions.
  • Connection issues: the client automatically tunnels all traffic over HTTPS (port 443) via WebSocket, so it works even on restrictive networks. If you still can’t connect, check your firewall or try a different network.
  • Add the install folder to your antivirus exceptions (game executables sometimes get false-flagged)
  • Light Client only: make sure your kRO data.grf and rdata.grf are clean base archives, not pre-modified ones from another server
  • Updates download automatically from the in-game login screen — no separate patcher needed

Performance Tips
Use your dedicated GPU (Windows 10 / 11)

Laptops with both integrated and dedicated graphics (NVIDIA / AMD) sometimes run the game on the weaker integrated GPU by default. Force Windows to use your dedicated GPU for a smoother experience:

  1. Open SettingsSystemDisplayGraphics
  2. Click Add desktop app and navigate to your WarboundRO install folder
  3. Select WarboundRO.exe to add it to the list
  4. Click the WarboundRO.exe entry to expand it
  5. Under GPU preference, select your dedicated GPU from the dropdown

This setting persists across reboots — you only need to do it once. If the game still feels sluggish, also check that your GPU drivers are up to date.
